Points from Volume is an extremely useful node. There is a similar method which is to use an iso offset surface (volume) or a VDB from polygons and then a scatter.

Hip file created in Houdini 19.5.640 ptsFromVolume.hiplc

This node will be used often, particularly when working with pops or pop grains or working with RBD simulations (as in this file).
