Lighting:
You will also need to use Redshift lights - available on the
Redshift shelf tool or tab menu (type rs)
Coming from mantra the controls will look quite different for
"light color" in the sun and also shadow intensity is just shadow
transparency. The sunlight behavior differs from Mantra - the
other lights are very similar.
The light types are similar to mantra (note the area lights have
types including sphere).
Excellent documentation can be found on lighting at https://help.maxon.net/r3d/houdini/en-us/index.html#html/Lights.html?TocPath=Lights%257C_____0
I will cover light instancing here Overview-Redshift-InstancedLights.html
Light linking is easy! No need for a data tree tool (that
was for mantra). For the light in question there is a tab which
allows you to select what object are illuminated from that light
and what objects are shadowed. For ease of use you can use the ^
to not include an object (example below will exclude the
spiralUnfurlSpheres from the shadows)
Or if you have only one object the light should act on, list only
that light
For advanced lighters, the usual AOV layers are available in the
ROP as well as on the object tab you have visibility as well as
trace sets.
